Somatic Therapy for Anxiety and Depression,

Therapeutic Touch:

Relational Somatic Healing is a method of therapeutic touch we can use in our sessions. It is light touch done fully clothed, typically on a massage table. This type of touch creates space for you to be exactly as you are and be met, seen, and heard from that place. For many of us touch has been harmful. Just as touch can do harm, touch can also be deeply healing. It can reach the places in us that words cannot. Safe therapeutic touch can help us feel more connected to our physical body and in tune with our wants, needs, and boundaries. When we are touched with consent, respect, and care, a signal is sent from our skin to our brain and entire nervous system that we’re safe in this moment. When we feel safe inside, profound healing then becomes possible. Touch is helpful in bringing to life our resilience, aliveness, and wholeness. Please note that touch is always optional and is only done with on-going consent.

Relationship to Yourself & Others:

Relationships can be the most challenging part of being human and the most absolutely beautiful part of being human. Together we will explore your relationship patterns, especially your relationship to yourself, the person you are always with. We’ll observe your feelings and beliefs about yourself and how that impacts your decisions and relationships with other people. We can observe what’s hard and uncover new options for how to engage with yourself and others in a way that moves you in the direction of the life you want. We work with couples and individuals.

Body Awareness:

Our body speaks to us through sensation. Our bodies let us know when we are thirsty, hungry, tired, when something doesn’t feel right, and more. To “hear,” our bodies’ “language,” we have to slow down and listen. We will work collaboratively to learn how your body is communicating important things to you. Knowing what your body is saying will encourage you to care for yourself in new ways. This will enable you to be the best person you can be in your professional and personal life in a sustainable way.

EcoTherapy:

Nature-based therapy is rejuvenating! It can reduce stress and  improve attention and thinking. If you love being outdoors or want to see what it’s like to have the sun and the breeze be part of your therapy, connect with Phoenix about our eco therapy options:

  • 'Walk n’talk' - Choose from a few predetermined routes of just the right length to get you moving at a pace that’s comfortable for you to decompress.

  • 'Park prescriptions' - Design an outdoor experience that feels calming and uplifting to your mind and body. This can include things like playing a game outside, tossing a ball back and forth, and more.

  • 'Forest bathing' - This practice encourages the mindful use of all your available senses as we walk or sit in tree-heavy settings.

*Session settings may move indoors or otherwise change depending on weather conditions and other environmental factors.
